South Carolina is ranked #8 in the nation for the number of deaths which involve men killing women
There were 36 known deaths due to domestic violence in 2008
South Carolina had 4,382 women and children living in domestic violence shelters
South Carolina had 28,507 clients who didn't stay in the shelters
The Attorney General's Pro Bono Program has prosecuted 2,300 domestic violence cases with a 70% conviction rate in 2007
SLED reports 34,610 Aggravated/Simple Assaults and Intimidation arrests in 2007
OUR MISSION
To provide household furnishings to domestic violence victims and their children. To give out information on other helpful services.
To promote abuse-free relationships.
Domestic Violence Assistance has been in operation for 2 1/2 years and has been able to help 251 women and children all through donations.
Our Director was one of Greenville Talk Magazine's
"25 Most Beautiful Women"
in their October 2008 issue.
How can I help?
You can help by donating items. We can pick up any furniture you have to donate that is in good condition when we are in need. You can make a monetary donation by mailing a tax deductible in-kind donation.
Sharon is on the Greenville County Domestic Violence Council run through the Solicitor's Office as well as SCCADVASA's Legislative Council in Columbia, SC.
